Pearl Orchid Tea History

Zhulan Flower Tea was created during the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (1736-1795) and has a history of more than 200 years. In 1984, Zhulan Flower Tea was rated as a high-quality product in Anhui Province.

Pearl Orchid Tea Production Process

Zhulan flower tea uses Zhulan flower and Milan flower as raw materials. Although the two have the same flower shape, their fragrance is different. The flowering period is from April to July. Generally, they are picked in summer. Only the flowers in the morning are picked, and no flowers are picked after noon. The flowers of Zhulan flower are close to the branches and are very small, like millet grains. Therefore, when picking, the flower stems and flowers are pruned together. It includes two processes: tea base processing and flower scenting. The quality of the tea base raw materials determines the grade of the scented tea, so the tea base raw materials of the special grade scented tea are generally selected from high-end famous teas. The flower scenting process generally goes through the processes of fresh flower maintenance, flower scenting, flower heat dissipation, flower re-firing, and uniform stacking and boxing, and finally forms the finished scented tea. It should be noted that Zhulan flower should not be scented multiple times, otherwise it will affect the freshness of the scented tea. Generally, the amount of flowers invested is about 5 to 6%, and the method of one scenting and one lifting is adopted.

Pearl Orchid Tea Purchase Guide

There are many places where chrysanthemum tea is produced. You must understand the place of production and the production company when purchasing. The herbal teas from different places have different aromas. You can choose one that suits your taste. Try to choose some brands with good reputation, such as the chrysanthemum tea from She County, Anhui, and the “Yuzhu Brand” chrysanthemum tea produced in Sichuan.

Pearl Orchid Tea Quality Identification

◎ High-quality Zhulan tea has flat and even strips, without messy debris and stems, and contains buds, like bamboo leaves, with a dark green and oily color, and a distinct floral fragrance. Inferior scented tea generally has a lot of tea stems and debris, and is yellow, dark, and dull. A handful is obviously lighter than high-quality scented tea. ◎ Zhulan tea flowers are dried and bunched. Once brewed, the tea leaves slowly sink to the bottom of the cup, and the flowers are like a bead curtain hanging in the water. The tea soup is yellow-green and moist. If you taste it carefully, you will find both the unique elegant fragrance of orchids and the fresh and sweet taste of high-end green tea.

Pearl Orchid Tea Brewing Method

It is advisable to use glassware to brew jasmine tea. The boiling water temperature should not be too high, 90 to 100℃ is appropriate. It can usually be drunk after brewing for about 5 minutes. Brewing for too long will produce a bitter taste.
