Xiaguan Tuocha Introduction
Xiaguan Tuocha is a famous historical tea, which is steam-pressed from the natural spring water of Dian Cang Mountain. As the main tea distribution center in Yunnan, Xiaguan in Dali City gathers the best tea-making raw materials from all over the province. Therefore, the Tuocha production process using a variety of high-quality Yunnan large-leaf sun-dried green tea as the raw materials for Xiaguan Tuocha was born here, so it is known as “Xiaguan Tuocha” in history.
Xiaguan Tuocha History
In 1902, Xiaguan Tuocha was successfully developed by the Xiaguan “Yongchangxiang” business, and it has a history of more than 100 years. In 2011, “Xiaguan Tuocha Making Technique” was selected into the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
Xiaguan Tuocha Origin
Xiaguan Tea Factory in Xiaguan, Dali City, Yunnan Province
Xiaguan Tuocha Production Process
Xiaguan Tuocha uses fresh leaves of Yunnan large-leaf variety in southwest Yunnan as raw materials. The base tea of Tuocha uses raw tea with strong flavor. The “second cover” in the middle uses spring tip tea which is slightly fresher than the “base tea”; the “head cover” on the surface of the entire Tuocha uses the freshest and best-looking “white tip”. The raw tea is processed into semi-finished products through screening, wind selection, picking and piling. The core tea embryos and sprinkled tea embryos separated by the screening process are respectively wind-selected, picked and piling. The core and sprinkled semi-finished products are weighed, molded, steamed, shaped, dried and packaged. Hand-kneading is the core link of Xiaguan Tuocha. The hand-kneaded Tuocha has an exquisite appearance and is very unique, and has the important characteristic of “clear layers”.
Xiaguan Tuocha Purchase Guide
Xiaguan Tuocha is inspired by the appearance of Yunnan Jinggu “Girl Tea”. Therefore, the biggest feature of Xiaguan Tuocha is its tight appearance, which is Tuo-shaped. The tea body has strong pressure resistance. Even if an object weighing more than 100 kilograms falls on the Tuocha, the tea body remains intact. In addition, the Tuocha series products produced by Xiaguan Tea Factory include green tea (sun-dried and baked), Pu’er, black tea, and scented tea. The shape is bowl-shaped, tight and smooth. Xiaguan Tuocha raw tea mainly refers to green tea.
