Wenshan Baozhong Tea Introduction
Wenshan Baozhong Tea is a famous historical tea, famous for its five characteristics of “fragrance, richness, mellowness, charm and beauty”. It is said that it was created by a tea merchant named Wang Yicheng in the Qing Dynasty. After the tea is finished, it is wrapped in square paper into a square shape, so it is called “square package”. Because it is produced in Wenshan area, it is called “Wenshan Baozhong Tea”.

Wenshan Baozhong tea has a history of more than 100 years and is one of the three oldest famous teas in Taiwan. There is a saying in Taiwan that “Baozhong in the north and Oolong (Dongding Oolong) in the south”.

Wenshan Baozhong Tea Production Process
The tea is picked and processed in four seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter. Spring tea is from mid-March to late May, summer tea is from late May to mid-August, autumn tea is from mid-August to late October, and winter tea is from late October to mid-November. Spring tea and winter tea are of the best quality, and the picking standard is one bud and two leaves or one bud and three leaves. After the fresh leaves are picked, they are processed through processes such as sunlight withering (or indoor heating), indoor withering (standing and stirring), stir-frying, rolling, drying, and roasting.

Currently, Taiwan has passed the “certification mark” system for Wenshan Baozhong tea, which stipulates that tea from various production areas in Wenshan can obtain the origin certification mark only after quality inspection, to prevent counterfeit tea from affecting the market, so be sure to look for the origin mark when purchasing.
Wenshan Baozhong Tea Quality Identification
◎ High-quality Wenshan Baozhong tea looks fresh and has no adulteration. The young branches and buds are intertwined, with grayish-white spots like frog skin, tight and naturally curved, and the dry tea has a fragrance like orchids. ◎ The tea soup of good Wenshan Baozhong tea is bright and not turbid, golden yellow or bright honey green, and does not smell grassy, but has a faint floral and fruity fragrance with a sweet fragrance. Even after the tea soup cools, the fragrance still exists. ◎ After brewing, the leaves of the top-quality Wenshan Baozhong tea are intact and the branches and leaves are intertwined; the leaves of inferior tea are broken and have broken leaves, and the color is dark.
Wenshan Baozhong Tea Brewing Method
White porcelain utensils can be used to brew Wenshan Baozhong tea. First, use boiling water to warm the pot and cup, then put the tea. The tea leaves should fill about one-sixth of the tea set, and you can reduce the amount according to personal taste. Next, add water. The water temperature should be about 90℃. Do not keep the tea soup from the first brew. Start drinking the second brew. The brewing time is about 1 minute. When it comes to the third brew, the time is extended by 20 seconds, and then gradually extend the time. It can be brewed continuously for about 4 to 5 times and it will still be fragrant.
