Liubao Tea Production Process
There are four kinds of raw materials for picking: green seedling tea, purple bud tea, large white leaf tea and broken rice tea. Among them, green seedling tea has the highest yield and the best quality. The picking standard is new shoots with one bud and three leaves or one bud and four leaves, which should be kept fresh and picked on the same day. It is made through five processes: withering, rolling, pile fermentation, re-rolling and drying. Pile fermentation is a key process. Through the moist heat of pile fermentation, it can promote the change of substances contained in fresh leaves, remove bitterness, eliminate green odor, increase its aroma, destroy chlorophyll, and turn the leaf color into yellow-brown.

Liubao Tea Quality Identification
◎ Look at its shape: The dried tea strands of authentic Liubao tea are uniform, dark brown and slightly brown in color, and smell like new tea, without any impurities or mold spots. However, fake Liubao tea is generally not “killed” and has no softness. ◎ Smell the tea aroma: Authentic Liubao tea has betel nut aroma, fruit aroma (similar to monk fruit) or pine smoke aroma, while counterfeit products do not have this aroma. ◎ Identify the soup color: The soup color of 1 to 2 years old new tea is generally turbid. But as time goes by, it will become clear and bright. The older the soup color, the redder and brighter it is, and the more it reflects the “red” and “thick” characteristics of Liubao tea. However, the soup color of fake Liubao tea is dark or turbid after brewing, and it looks like “soy sauce soup”.
Liubao Tea Brewing Method
To simply brew Liubao tea, you can use a purple clay covered bowl. The amount of water should cover the bottom of the bowl. Then wash the tea. It is best to choose 100℃ boiling water. After washing the tea, you can brew it, with the water volume reaching 80% to 90% full. The brewing time should not be too long, otherwise it will increase the bitterness.
