Jiuqu Hongmei Tea Introduction
Jiuquhongmei, also known as “Jiuquhong”, “Jiuquwulong” and “Longjinghong”, is one of the historical famous teas in Xihu District. Jiuquhongmei originated from Jiuqu in Wuyi Mountain, Fujian. Later, farmers in Fujian moved north, and some of them settled in Dawushan area of Hangzhou City. They began to make black tea to make a living. Because the color of the tea soup is red like red plum, it was named “Jiuquhongmei”.

Jiuquhongmei has a history of more than 200 years. As early as 1886, it won the “Gold Award” at the Panama International Food Expo. In 1929, it was listed as one of the “Top Ten Famous Teas in China”. It is known as the Zhejiang famous tea “a touch of red in the green”. Jiuquhongmei obtained a registered trademark in 2000, and won the “Gold Award” at the China Mengdingshan Cup Famous Tea Expo in 2004 and the “Gold Award” at the China (International) Famous Tea Expo in 2008.

Jiuqu Hongmei Tea Production Process
The harvest is carried out during the Qingming to Guyu period every year. In the early morning, after the dew has dried, the fresh buds and leaves with one bud and one leaf or one bud and two leaves are picked. After the picking, the buds and leaves are made through multiple processes such as withering, rolling, fermentation, baking, and drying. Jiuqu Hongmei Tea Brewing Method
Jiuquhongmei is best brewed with purple sand or white porcelain tea sets, with water temperature of about 95℃ and brewing time of about 3 minutes.
