Zunyi Maofeng Tea Production Process
The tea is picked around Qingming Festival. The picking standards are divided into three levels. Special grade tea is fresh leaves with one bud and one leaf that are just beginning to unfold or fully unfolded, with a bud and leaf length of 2 to 2.5 cm; first grade tea is mainly one bud and one leaf, with a bud and leaf length of 2.5 to 3.0 cm; second grade tea is one bud and two leaves, with a bud and leaf length of 3 to 3.5 cm. After the fresh leaves are picked, they are made through several processes such as grading, selection, killing, rolling, shaking to lose water, rolling into strips (straightening, wrapping, rolling into rounds), lifting and drying.
